The Detroit Lions didn’t just lose on the scoreboard against the Green Bay Packers; they also lost one of their starting cornerbacks. Terrion Arnold, the second-year defender who was drafted in the first round in 2024, was sidelined after halftime with a groin injury.
Dan Campbell: “We’ll See”
Head coach Dan Campbell didn’t have much clarity immediately after the game, admitting the team will need more information before knowing the severity.
“Looks like he has a bit of a groin right now. It was enough to not come back, so we’ll see.” Dan Campbell said following the game.
Arnold Explains What Happened
Arnold, however, shed more light on the situation. He said the injury occurred early in the game and that he tried to push through it before the medical staff pulled him at halftime.
“Early in the game, I was kind of coming out my break and I kind of bothered it a little bit and then it was just something I kept trying to play through,” he said via the Detroit Free Press. “And then like that post ball, I wasn’t able to open up. I’m making that play. Talking to (the trainers) they said it was something we feel like we caught before it could be any worse.”
Arnold Staying Positive
Despite the setback, Arnold struck an optimistic tone about his recovery.
“It’s one of those things where I think it’s tolerable and I can play through it,” he said.
Arnold will undergo an MRI to determine the full extent of the injury, but his comments suggest the Lions may have avoided a worst-case scenario.
