That’s right, Detroit is still the ‘City of Champions’

On Wednesday night, the St. Louis Blues took on the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final and everything was on the line…

For Detroit.

Wait, what?

Well, in the history of sports in America, only one city can say they have held three championships in the four major sports at the same time.

That city is Detroit.

So, when the Blues pulled off the win to capture their first Stanley Cup in team history, Boston lost and Detroit retained their title.

You see, had Boston won, they would have tied Detroit as the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots currently are defending champions in Major League Baseball and the National Football League.

Detroit established themselves as the ‘City of Champions’ back in the mid 1930s when the Detroit Tigers (1935), Detroit Lions (1935), and Detroit Red Wings (1936) all held the title in their respective sport.

Things may be down (way down) for Detroit sports at the moment, but we ARE STILL THE CITY OF CHAMPIONS!
