Tonight the Detroit Red Wings will continue their three-game homestand as the Florida Panthers come to town. This is Detroit’s second matchup against the Panthers. The first matchup did not go so well against the Panthers as the Red Wings dropped that one 5-1.
Tonight’s Red Wings player to watch: Dominik Kubalik
Kubalik has been one of the best Wings players this season and has been flexible as he has moved around between all four lines. Tonight, he is listed to be playing alongside Elmer Soderblom and Joe Veleno on the fourth line for Detroit.
In his career, Kubalik scored 74 goals and had 70 assists, good for 144 points while appearing in 238 career games. He started his career with the Chicago Blackhawks appearing in 202 games for them and in the offseason, he signed with the Red Wings on a two-year deal. In his first season with the Wings Kubs has appeared in 36 games scoring 12 goals and tallying 16 assists for 28 points which puts him second on the team in points.
He will also be on the power play’s second unit, playing with Oskar Sundqvist, Joe Veleno, Robby Fabbri, and Jake Walman. Kubalik has been a stud on the power play scoring six goals and seven assists good enough for 13 points, he also leads the team in power play goals and power play points. This season against the Panthers Kubalik did not register a point in that game but in his career, he has faced them 13 times scoring four goals and adding five helpers for nine points. Look for Kubalik to have a great game tonight against Florida.
