The bad news? The Detroit Red Wings are in the midst of a full-scale rebuild, and it’s painful. They’re by far the worst team in the National Hockey League with a mere nine wins against 26 regulation losses and three OT/SO losses.
The good news? Steve Yzerman is back at the helm, running the show as general manager.
And some additional good news – it won’t be long before some of the regrettable contracts that former GM Ken Holland signed will be coming off the books.
There are a bevy of free-agents that will be available this summer, and here are a few names that Yzerman could consider.

The Red Wings need help on the wings (no pun). Kreider fits the bill. At 6’3 and 217 lbs, Kreider has established himself as a reliable scorer, eclipsing the 20-goal mark in four of the past five seasons.
