The Detroit Red Wings are in the midst of a full-scale rebuild, and as such, there will likely continue to be moving parts both in and out of the franchise as contracts begin expiring.
One such contract belongs to that of goaltender Jimmy Howard, who is slated to become an unrestricted free-agent this summer. He'll be 36 this March, and given his struggles this season, don't be surprised to see new GM Steve Yzerman elect to not offer him a new extension.
There will be goaltenders hitting the free-agent market this summer that could be attractive options for the Red Wings.

Swedish goaltender Robin Lehner is one of the feel-good stories in the NHL. He enjoyed a terrific season last year with the New York Islanders, leading them to a playoff appearance. His overcoming of mental health struggles have been well documented.
2. Thomas Greiss
German goaltender Thomas Greiss has been a picture of consistency with the New York Islanders. With over 130 wins in his career, Greiss will have plenty of suitors from teams looking to bolster their crease.
3. Jacob Markstrom
Another native of Sweden, Markstrom could be attracted to Detroit's rich history of featuring Swedish players on their roster. At 6'6, he's one of the largest goaltenders in the NHL>
