Maybin has not played since August 3 against the White Sox, the team has gone just 5-11 in his absence. It’s been an injury-plagued season for Cam in 2016 but in his 63 games played, he’s hitting .325/.394/.398 with a couple homers and 29 runs batted in. But the most important stat is the record in games he’s played: 39-24.
Shortstop Dixon Machado was called up to the big league club during the team’s last road trip in Texas. He played in just four games, going 1-for-9 with a walk, run scored and four strikeouts. He lost playing time and at-bats when the team acquired veteran shortstop Erick Aybar to take over the everyday duties in place of the injured Jose Iglesias.
