Tigers call up Bryan Holaday, Kyle Ryan

The Detroit Tigers have announced a couple roster moves, now that the month of September is here.

Pitcher Kyle Ryan has appeared in ten games and made five starts for the Tigers this season. The 23-year old is 1-2 with a 5.94 ERA in those ten games. He is 4-9 with a 4.19 ERA in 17 starts with the Toledo Mud Hens this season. In the month of August, Ryan went 4-0 with a 1.30 ERA in his four starts.

Meanwhile, catcher Bryan Holaday was missed a lot of time recently after suffering a thumb injury on a collision play at the plate. He made a surprisingly speedy recovery and hit over .320 in the month of August. He did however hit a pedestrian .224 in 49 games played for Toledo this season. He did appear in 16 games for the Detroit Tigers when Alex Avila missed over a month earlier in the season, hitting .271 and driving in 12 runs.

Both Ryan and Holaday will join the big league club today as the team gets set to begin a three-game series vs. the Kansas City Royals.
