Just moments ago, Detroit Tigers GM Al Avila met with the media and announced that manager Ron Gardenhire is retiring, effective immediately.
Following the press conference, the Tigers released a statement from Avila in which he thanks Gardy for his time in Detroit and to congratulate him on a great career.
