Tigers make a flurry of roster moves on Tuesday

The Detroit Tigers took the field for the first time Tuesday night since coming home from a 7-game west coast road trip. They were looking for answers all up and down the lineup, but only managed to go 2-5, including being on the wrong side of a sweep in Anaheim. Now the Tigers come home to face the Oakland Athletics, who Detroit just played one week ago by the bay.

They club made some roster changes today before taking part in baseball activity. First, they brought up first baseman Josh Wilson and outfielder Daniel Fields from the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens.

Wilson is hitting .291 in 37 games played for Toledo this season. Fields is hitting .271, and has the highest OBP (.394) and SLG% (.486) among everyday players for the Hens.

As you could see from the game today, Tigers starter Alfredo Simon is back with the ball club after missing the last series due to the passing of his father.

We here at Detroit Sports Nation would like to send our best wishes and congratulations to Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis and his family.

Buck Farmer made his Tigers season debut last Thursday in the first game of the series with the Angels, after Tigers starter Kyle Lobstein was placed on the disabled list. Farmer got a bit roughed up, giving up seven earned runs on nine hits in five innings of work while taking the loss in a 12-2 beat down from Los Angeles.

Lastly, best of luck to now former Tigers utility man Hernan Perez.

Perez was not getting it done at all for Detroit. Just 2 for 34 in 22 games played this season, Perez struggled to find any playing time as a backup. His poor hitting paired with the better play coming from Tigers super utility man Andrew Romine eventually resulted in his departure from the clubhouse. Dombrowski claimed that the Tigers attempted to trade Perez, but there was virtually no interest in him unsurprisingly.
