We finally have clarity on when the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners will take the field for Game 4 of the ALDS, and it all came down to what happened between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.

Heading into the night, the Tigers’ start time hinged entirely on that other ALDS matchup. If Toronto had clinched their series, Detroit’s showdown with Seattle would have been pushed to 7:08 p.m. ET on Wednesday. But if the Yankees forced a Game 4, then the Tigers and Mariners would take the early slot at 3:08 p.m. ET.
And wouldn’t you know it, New York just doesn’t die easily.
The Yankees fell behind 6–0 in the third inning, looking dead in the water. Then, in true Bronx Bombers fashion, they came storming back with nine unanswered runs to pull off a 9–6 comeback win, keeping their season alive and locking in that earlier start time for Detroit.
So now it’s official:

It’s a daytime elimination showdown for the Tigers, who will turn to Casey Mize on the mound as they try to keep their magical postseason run alive.
