In this edition of Tigers News and Notes we will provide you with the key moments from today’s Spring Training game against the Atlanta Braves along with other important news coming out of the Detroit Tigers camp.
Tigers tomahawk the Braves
The Tigers moved to 3-2 overall in Grapefruit League play as they defeated the Braves 12-6 behind three hit games from both Anthony Gose and Hernan Perez. Gose also drove in two runs and scored twice while stealing his second base of the spring.
In what was Justin Verlander’s first start of the spring, he pitched two scoreless innings while giving up one hit and striking out two. The former MVP looked good while focusing mainly on his curveball in today’s outing. Both Verlander and Brad Ausmus were happy with the performance.
Verlander said the curveball has been a point of emphasis this spring: “I’ve been pleased with it so far and I was pleased with it today."

Rondon about ready to roll
Bruce Rondon has been making great strides and should be ready for action, maybe as soon as this coming week. This of course is great news in regards to the Tigers’ bullpen as Opening Day is right around the corner.
Ausmus said Jeff Jones was encouraged by Bruce Rondon's live bullpen today, enough that they will consider giving him some game action soon.

Bruce Rondon will throw live #bp on Monday. Ausmus said if that goes well, he will make his spring debut on Thursday.

Soria and Chamberlain ready to toe the rubber
Two important pieces to the Tigers’ bullpen are expected to be on display Sunday, as Joakim Soria and Joba Chamberlain make their spring debuts. Though the Tigers have said that Chamberlain is more of an insurance guy, he could become very important if an injury occurs.
Joakim Soria and Joba Chamberlain will make their spring debuts on Sunday, Brad Ausmus said.

Opening Day tickets, going…..going…..gone!
If you were hoping to get your hands on tickets for Opening Day against the Minnesota Twins, you had to act fast. Tickets went on sale this morning at 10 a.m. and they did not last long. Fans lined up outside of Comerica Park while others waited patiently on their computers as the moment of truth arrived. Personally I was able to snag a few tickets, but when I tried to get a couple more at 10:18 a.m. they were already sold out! Hopefully you were able to get yours.
