To start a crucial three-game series on the road in Cleveland in the midst of a tough 11-game road trip before the All-Star break, the Detroit Tigers gave the ball to Daniel Norris, who struck out eight batters his last time out against Miami.
Unfortunately, the outing for Norris against the Indians on Monday was short-lived as he had to depart the game prematurely with an injury.
Daniel Norris left tonight's game with a right oblique strain. He will have an MRI in the morning to determine the degree of the strain.

Norris endured the same injury a season ago late in the season and caused him to miss nearly a month of action. His final line for this game: 2+ IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 3 K
The news of Norris’ injury comes just hours after the club announced they were putting starter Jordan Zimmermann on the disabled list and having Anibal Sanchez take his place.
That’s 40 percent of the Tigers’ rotation now sidelined and expected to pitch twice this week (Norris’ spot comes up again on Saturday, Zimmermann’s on Sunday).
