Tigers place Warwick Saupold on DL; purchase contract of Bobby Parnell

After suffering a groin strain in Tuesday’s 11-9 loss against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, reliever Warwick Saupold has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.

The team has also purchased the contract of Bobby Parnell from the Toledo Mud Hens

In just 6 2/3 innings so far this season, Saupold has compiled an ERA of 10.80, and a 2.4 WHIP.

In 21 appearances with the Mud Hens, Parnell has an ERA of 3.98, with 16 strikeouts and 11 walks. He has also racked up four saves.

In his major league career, Parnell has appeared in 329 games, all with the New York Mets. He appeared in one game in 2014, but it was then announced that he would require Tommy John surgery. After recovering from the surgery, Parnell appeared in 30 major league games last season, with a 6.38 ERA.
