Two young stars down in the Detroit Tigers‘ farm system will have a chance to show their talents on a big stage. Pitcher, Joe Jimenez and outfielder, Christin Stewart have both been selected to represent the Tigers’ organization at the 2016 All-Star Futures Game in San Diego, California on July 10th.
The Futures Game is comprised of two teams of prospects, one team from the United States and the other being from other countries outside the United States that compete against one another as part of the 2016 MLB All-Star Game festivities.

Jimenez has split time between the Lakeland Flying Tigers (Class-A) and Erie SeaWolves (Double-A) in 2016. Thus far he’s been lights out in the closer role, allowing just one earned run in 27.1 IP, striking out 46 batters. He’s without question one of the top pitching prospects for the Tigers.
Jimenez was the 2015 Minor League Pitcher of the Year for the Tigers last season and participated in the Futures Game a season ago in Cincinnati. The 21-year-old has an extremely bright future ahead of him, to say the least.
Stewart currently leads the Florida State League (High Class-A) with 18 home runs and is tied with three other players for second with 43 RBI. He also has 42 runs scored and 17 doubles which are both top-10 respectively in each category.
Congrats to both Joe and Christin!
