The Detroit Tigers are getting some bullpen help. They’ve recalled right-hander Warwick Saupold following Tuesday night’s 15-inning marathon against the Seattle Mariners.

Saupold’s stay in the big leagues may be short stayed, however. Bruce Rondon is expected to re-join the team from the paternity list following the birth of his child.
In the meantime, Saupold is expected to fill the space that was voided with Cameron Maybin being placed on the DL.
The Tigers today have placed OF Cameron Maybin on the 15-day disabled list with a grade two left thumb sprain, retroactive to August 4.

The Australian native had five appearances for the Tigers in May before being placed on the DL and missing significant time due to a groin strain. After being activated, he’s gone 5-2 with a 2.88 ERA in nine starts with the Mud Hens.
