Tigers send 6 to minors, 46 remain in camp

This morning the Tigers optioned RHP Sandy Baez to Single-A Lakeland, as well as RHP Warwick Saupold toTriple-A Toledo. Along with these moves, they additionally moved A.J. Achter, William Cuevas, Dustin Molleken, and INF Brett Pill were assigned to minor league camps.

In addition to the subtractions from major league camp, the Tigers brought Arcenio Leon to the Major League camp as a non-roster invitee. The team now has 46 players left in Major League Camp.

Leon has pitched 3.1 innings this spring for the club, not allowing a single earned run and has four strikeouts. He has turned heads with the Tigers this Spring and was invited to play for team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic, selected from the designated pitchers pool for round two.

With two weeks before Opening Day, Leon has a chance to continue doing what he’s been doing and make the club.
