The Detroit Tigers are five games into their 2021 schedule with the finale of their three-game tilt against the Minnesota Twins set to be played this afternoon at Comerica Park.

But one key member of the team has been missing thus far due to a positive COVID-19 test.

New pitching coach Chris Fetter, who was hired from the University of Michigan this past offseason, has been isolating after testing positive for COVID-19 in late March. Thankfully, according to manager A.J. Hinch, there’s good news.

Hinch stated that the team is “very optimistic” that Fetter will soon be able to re-join the squad. He also provided an update on pitcher Spencer Turnbull, who had to leave Detroit’s spring training facility in Lakeland, FL midway through March for COVID-19 protocols:

The Tigers take on the Twins starting at 1:00 PM EST.
