Zimmermann, who went on the 45-DL back in July with a forearm strain, is “fine” in the eyes of skipper Ron Gardenhire.

He was originally signed by the Tigers to a five-year, $110 million contract prior to the 2016 season. But after a good first month with his new club, Zimmermann has notably struggled to live up to the lofty contract expectations. In 2019, he amassed a less-than-stellar record of 1-13 with a 6.91 ERA.

How will Zimmermann do in his return to the club?
