VIDEO: Tigers pay tribute to Mike Ilitch before home opener

Detroit Red Wings and Tigers owner, Mike Ilitch, passed away this past February at the age of 87.

The Tigers unveiled a “Mr. I” logo on the infield grass on the third-base side of home plate. Additionally, the outfield grass was cut with a special “Mr. I” design in center field.

Before the Tigers played their first home game of the 2017 season against the Boston Red Sox, the team paid tribute to their late owner with a special video as members of the Ilitch family looked on.
