The news was first reported by Matt Zenitz, who noted that Metcalf started for the Wolverines this past season and brings proven production to Knoxville. In 2025, Metcalf appeared in 13 games for Michigan, recording 58 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and four pass breakups.
Before his lone season in Ann Arbor, Metcalf spent two years at Arkansas, where he totaled 72 tackles and three interceptions over the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Across his college career, he has compiled 130 tackles, four interceptions, and 11 passes defended, showing consistent playmaking ability in the secondary.
For Tennessee, Metcalf arrives as a plug-and-play defensive back with SEC experience, Big Ten starting credentials, and the versatility to contribute immediately in the Volsโ defensive backfield.
