Toledo Rockets football gets into AP Top 25 for only 2nd time in 15 seasons

It has already been a great season for Matt Campbell and his Toledo Rockets. This week, the AP released their Week 6 Top 25 rankings and the Rockets place in at the #24 slot. Campbell is in his fourth year as Ro3923800486_53d43ee394_mckets HC and has a 30-13 record at Toledo since he took the helm in late 2011. Campbell has led the Rockets to two 9-4 seasons and a bowl victory last year in the GoDaddy Bowl 63-44 over Arkansas State.

The Rockets have already beaten then-ranked #18 Arkansas in Fayetteville, Iowa State, Arkansas State, and Ball State to get to their 4-0 mark. Their home matchup against Stony Brook at the Glass Bowl was canceled due to inclement weather.

This is a very impressive start for Toledo and proves the upward trend of competition in the MAC. It is also possible that if Toledo wins out that they will represent the Group of 5 in the New Year’s Six Bowls. That bid could potentially be the MAC’s first major bowl affiliate since the Northern Illinois Huskies reached the 2013 Orange Bowl.

There is still a long ways to go, but the Rockets are setting themselves up nicely to make a big splash in the 2015 college football season. Congrats Rockets!
