Head coach Bill Belichick recently connected with Brady via phone for the first time regarding the situation, and according to a source, the conversation “didn’t go well”.
As reported by The Boston Herald, the details of the conversation weren’t known, but it wasn’t a productive conversation.
However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter offered a somewhat more optimistic take on their conversation.
Last week, NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner spoke on what he believes Brady’s state of mind is as he prepares for free agency.
“I’m sure in Tom’s mind somewhere, there’s a leaning that he has,” said Warner. “Is that leaning, ‘I really want to be a Patriot? I just want to know they’re committed to me.’ Or is that leaning, ‘I want to see what life is like away from Bill Belichick and outside the Patriots organization and I want to see if I can win somewhere else.”
