Did Tom Gores just hint at a Detroit Pistons/Andre Drummond reunion?

On Thursday, it looked like the NBA trade deadline was going to come and go without the Detroit Pistons making a move.

Until it happened.

With roughly an hour left before the deadline, news broke that the Pistons had traded C Andre Drummond to the Cleveland Cavaliers for PG Brandon Knight, forward John Henson, and a 2023 2nd-round pick.

It was no surprise that the Pistons traded Drummond, who was in the final year of his contract, as reports had been out for months that they would be looking to move him.

But could the Pistons actually be planning to re-sign Drummond this coming offseason?

To be honest, that seems very unlikely to me but on Thursday night, Pistons owner Tom Gores released a statement and there is one phrase which has many fans on the old Twittersphere speculating.

“Though our paths are diverging for the moment Andre will always hold a special place here with me, and in the City of Detroit,” Gores stated.

For the moment?

Nation, have the fans speculating on social media that there is a hidden meaning within those words lost their minds or could they be on to something?

Tom Gores, Detroit Pistons, Andre Drummond

Personally, even if the Pistons want to sign Drummond in the offseason, I would be pretty surprised if he would want to come back to a place where he was scrutinized after just about every game he played.

Granted, he often brought that scrutiny upon himself.

Also, considering the tweets Drummond sent out on Thursday bashing the Pistons, a reunion does not seem like it is in the cards.
