In case you missed it, Michigan State did not exactly get off to a great start against Oklahoma on Friday night. Spartans head coach Tom Izzo may have found the reason for their lackluster start.
Izzo told MLive.com that rather than watching film to prepare for Oklahoma he took his team to the movies instead.
“Instead of grinding it in some film, we went to a damn movie. We did it just to try to break up the day,” Izzo told MLive.com’s Kyle Austin.
So, what movie did Izzo choose? Well, he picked “Get Hard” staring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. He picked it because he thought it would put his team at ease.
Major Shout out to Michigan State for supporting my movie….Congrats on your win!!!! Good luck moving forward in … http://t.co/ChB8dG2PPp

One may have thought Izzo would have selected a motivational movie but instead he picked a movie that would make his players laugh.
“I had to find something that was a little light,” Izzo said. “I didn’t want anything too deep. This wasn’t too deep. I kept seeing the commercials.”
The Spartans trailed 31-27 at the half before making a run in the second half and eventually winning the game 62-58.
Overall, even the biggest Michigan State fans have to admit it was one of the uglier wins in the recent memory as the Spartans shot only 38.6% for the game.
Going to the movies may have worked this time, but something tells me the Spartans won’t be watching “Talladega Nights” before playing Louisville for the right to play in the Final Four.
