The Michigan State vs. Michigan rivalry is very much alive right now and that rivalry will continue this coming Saturday when the Spartans host the Wolverines at the Breslin Center. MSU head coach Tom Izzo wants the atmosphere to be the craziest it has ever been on Saturday against Michigan but he wants the fans to be respectful while they are cheering on their team.
What did Tom Izzo say about the Michigan State vs. Michigan rivalry
On Thursday, Izzo spoke to reporters and he had the following to say about the rivalry.
“A lot of things have changed, but the rivalry is the same,” Izzo said. “It’s just the nature of the beast. It’s usually respected. Not always, but usually respected. For us, winning the battle of the state means the world to me.”
Izzo added that he hopes the crowd is fired up and ready to go on Saturday when Michigan comes to East Lansing.
“I hope we’re the craziest, toughest, best crowd that was ever assembled in Breslin. With class, respect and handling ourselves the way we should. … Do I think it’s gonna be ugly? It better not be.”
Saturday’s game is scheduled to tip off at 2:30 p.m. ET.
