Top 10 unexpected heroes in Super Bowl history

6. Jeff Hostetler, Quarterback, New York Giants: Super Bowl XXV

The Giants were rolling towards another Super Bowl appearance in the 1991 playoffs when disaster struck New York.

Starting quarterback Phil Simms was hurt in the NFC Championship and would miss the Super Bowl. Backup Jeff Hostetler was sprung into action against a Buffalo Bills team that many consider to be one of the best to never win a Super Bowl.

Hostetler had a solid game, passing for 222 yards and a touchdown to help guide the Giants to their second Super Bowl championship.
