Coming off a birth in their first College Football Playoff, MSU will have many questions to answer before they open the 2016 season on September 2nd vs. Furman. Here are the top story lines to keep an eye on as Spring camp begins.[/tps_header]

[tps_title]5. How will the Spartans respond to last season’s 38-0 loss to Alabama in the College Football Playoff?[/tps_title]

Connor Cook2

Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio made last season’s motto “Reach Higher” and the Spartans did just that winning their third Big Ten title since 2010 and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff. However, Michigan State’s first trip to the CFP didn’t go exactly as planned as Alabama defeated the Spartans in dominating fashion, 38-0.

It will be interesting to see how Dantonio molds this year’s team as they will have to replace 14 starters from last season, including the program’s winningest quarterback in Connor Cook who has moved on to the NFL after starting the last three seasons for MSU. Once again Michigan State will be flying under the radar as many pundits have the Spartans finishing 3rd behind Ohio State and Michigan in what should be a ultra-competitive Big Ten East division in 2016.
