8 of the most infamous cheaters in sports history

#5 – Rosie Ruiz (Marathon Runner)

In one of the craziest stories I have ever heard, Rose Ruiz won the 1980 Boston Marathon with a time of 2:31:56. Or did she?

Her posted time was more than 25 minutes faster than she had run in her qualifying race, which put her in question.

Eight days following the race, Ruiz was stripped of her victory after it was discovered she had not actually run the entire course, but entered the race about a half-mile before the finish line.

When asked by reporters why she did not seem tired after such a grueling race, Ruiz responded.

“I got up with a lot of energy this morning.”

All I can say is, wow.
