#3 – Barry Bonds (Major League Baseball)

There’s no question the steroid era consisted of many more players than Barry Bonds, but considering the use of steroids assisted him in breaking the biggest record in sports, he will be the poster boy for this piece.

Bonds owns the record for most career home runs with 762 and the single season home run record with 73. But the question remains, how many of those home runs were steroid aided?

In 2007, Bonds was indicted on charges of obstruction of justice and perjury for allegedly lying to the grand jury throughout the federal government’s investigation of BALCO.

It’s unfortunate Bonds got tied up in steroids because he was a great baseball player without them. Unfortunately we will never know how things would have turned out had he stayed clean. Would he have broken Hank Aaron‘s career home run record?
