[tps_title]4. Overtime goal in Game 5 of the 2008 Western Conference Quarter-Finals vs. Nashville[/tps_title]
2008 was a year to remember for Johan Franzen and the Red Wings. He enjoyed a torrid goal-scoring pace to close out the regular season, and the Red Wings clinched the President’s Trophy as the NHL’s top regular-season team. But with their opening round series against the Nashville Predators tied at two games apiece, Red Wings fans were on edge as the Predators tied Game 5 late to send it to overtime. Their anxiety quickly turned to celebration, however, as Franzen snuck in behind the Predators’ defense, took a pass from Niklas Kronwall, and beat sliding Predators goaltender Dan Ellis with a backhander to seal the Red Wings’ win for a 3-2 series lead. They went on to eliminate the Predators the next game, and would eventually win their 11th Stanley Cup title in June.
