The Detroit Pistons are off to a 10-15 start, which is not exactly what they were hoping for prior to the 2019-2020 season.
Though they are in the playoff hunt (1 GB the No. 8 seed Orlando Magic), there has been plenty of talk about the Pistons eventually becoming sellers.
According to a report from The Athletic, a ‘top team’ in the Eastern Conference is potentially interested in trading for Pistons guard, Langston Galloway, who is in the final year of his contract.
From The Athletic (Pay):
No one on the Pistons has transformed his value this season quite like Galloway. After two years of inconsistent shooting, Galloway, 28, who signed a three-year, $21 million deal in 2017, is averaging a career-high 12.0 points while shooting a career-best 42.7 percent from 3 on 5.7 attempts per game. When examining all players who average at least five 3s per game, Galloway’s percentage ranks in the top 10. Undersized for a shooting guard, Galloway is Detroit’s second-best on-ball defender. And in terms of character, teams would be hard-pressed to find a nicer guy.
Aside from Galloway’s production this season, he also has an expiring contract, which is valuable. According to one league source, there is a top team in the Eastern Conference that is potentially interested in Galloway’s services. If the Pistons remain in the playoff hunt and remain adamant on chasing one of the final seeds, Galloway seems unlikely to go anywhere before the deadline — though a late first-round pick might be too enticing. However, if the Pistons pivot, Galloway could still be traded for an asset.
Nation, which Pistons do you think will eventually be on the trading block if they end up out of the playoff race?
