The Detroit Tigers pulled off a trade earlier this week, acquiring catcher and two-time Gold Glove winner Tucker Barnhart from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for third-base prospect Nick Quintana.
And now, Tigers fans have a better idea of what he'll be looking like behind home plate. Barnhart took to social media earlier today to reveal what jersey number he'll be donning in his first season in the Motor City:
Thurman was my dad’s favorite player. I finally get to wear his number in Detroit!! Can’t wait to get this thing rollin’!! Go @tigers !!! pic.twitter.com/ZyTGEus83f

Last season with the Reds, Barnhart hit .247 with seven home runs and 48 RBIs in 116 games.
Is the author of this article serious about this being “a tribute to Gary Thurman, a former outfielder who suited up for the Tigers during the 1993 season and wore jersey number 15”??? It’s a tribute to the great Yankees catcher THURMAN Munson, whose picture accompanied Tucker Barnhart’s tweet! Get a clue, Michael Whitaker!!!
