JUST IN: Detroit Lions receive wavering news regarding offensive line

As the Lions continue preparation for the final two games of the regular season, it seems as though the status of their offensive line is in flux.

There has been a positive report regarding center Travis Swanson, who missed last week’s game against the Chicago Bears with a concussion, but the status of guard T.J. Lang remains the same.

Lang has been fighting a nagging foot injury for the past month or so, but he has started each of the last five games while dealing with the injury. He was removed during the second quarter of last Saturday’s game.

While the news on Swanson might indicate that he is making progress towards playing, it remains to be seen if he will be in the lineup this Sunday when Detroit travels to Ohio for a pivotal matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. He has missed the last two games after reporting concussion-related symptoms after the team’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

This is the second season in a row that Swanson has suffered a brain injury that forced him to miss time.

Although it’s not uncommon for veterans such as Lang to miss practice throughout the week, he has been a common participant in Friday practices for the better part of the year. It remains to be seen if he will be ready to go for this weekend’s tilt as well.

The Lions remain in a precarious position regarding their postseason status. While there are a couple different scenarios that would see them make it to the playoffs, the most important piece of any scenario includes them winning their final two games of the season, starting this weekend in Cincinnati and again to close out the regular season at home against the Green Bay Packers.
