With the Washington Redskins loss this afternoon, the Lions clinched a playoff berth for the only the first time since 2014. The Current NFC Standings look like this:
- Dallas Cowboys
- Atlanta Falcons
- Seattle Seahawks
- Det/GB winner
- New York Giants
- Det/GB loser
Here’s a look at what the future holds for the Lions going into next weekend’s Wild Card games:
With a win against the Packers:
The Lions with a win against the Packers would be the NFC North Champs and would become the #4 Seed in the NFC. That means that we would host our first playoff game since 1993, and our opponent would be the New York Giants. In this scenario, the Packers would then travel to Seattle to play the Seahawks.
With a loss to the Packers:
If the Lions lose tonight to the Packers, they would become the #6 seed, behind the Giants. Meaning they would travel to Seattle and take on the Seahawks. If the Packers beat the Lions, they would host the Giants for the 4-5 game next weekend.
