Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander was scratched from his last start this week due to a tight back. The injury scare came only two starts after Verlander missed nearly half the season recovering from a triceps injury he sustained in Spring Training.
The Tigers were hopeful that Verlander’s back injury would not hold him out long, and that proved to be true as he will only miss one start.
The Tigers are penciling in Justin Verlander to start on Tuesday against the Pirates, Brad Ausmus said.

Verlander continues to be a critical part for the Tigers to have success this season. So far in two starts this season, Verlander is 0-1 with a 6.17 ERA.
