After a 2015 campaign that saw Victor Martinez post the worst offensive numbers of his career due to a lingering injury, he came into Spring Training healthy and ready to help the dynamic Detroit Tigers offense.
The worry has set back in this afternoon, however. After rounding first base with a single in the 5th inning of today’s game against the New York Mets, Martinez came up hobbling. The injury was diagnosed as a mild left hamstring strain for the Tigers DH.

The initial prognosis doesn’t seem too bad, but that doesn’t mean that Martinez and the Tigers are in the clear. There is always the possibility that a MRI will reveal something more serious.
I saw Victor Martinez in the clubhouse briefly and he was not limping. Still, Tigers holding their collective breath — left leg

So far this spring, Martinez was batting .308 with 2 HR and 5 RBI. As more information becomes available, we will update.
