VIDEO: Anthony Mantha’s game-tying goal vs. Maple Leafs

The Detroit Red Wings opened the scoring of the 2017 NHL Centennial Classic courtesy of an Anthony Mantha snipe over the glove of Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Fredrik Andersen. Unfortunately, the Leafs would take over the third period quickly scoring four goals to take a 4-1 stranglehold.

The Red Wings weren’t finished, however. Goals from Jonathan Ericsson and Dylan Larkin brought Detroit back to within one, setting up a furious finish.

Mantha’s goal at 19:59 of the third period tied the score, capping an improbable comeback. Unfortunately for Detroit, they were unable to secure the extra point in the overtime session. Thanks to their furious 3rd-period rally, they still walked away with a point.
