Some very disturbing video footage of an athlete assaulting his then-significant other was made to the general public on Wednesday. The video revolves around a former minor leaguer of the Detroit Tigers.

WARNING: The surveillance video below is graphic in nature could be offensive to some.

24-year-old Danry Vasquez is a former farmhand for both the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros. The Tigers signed Vasquez as an international free agent back in 2010. He spent the first 2+ seasons of his professional career in their organization before the Tigers traded him in July of 2013, as part of a package, to the Astros in exchange for reliever Jose Veras.

The incident involving Vasquez shown above took place in early August of 2016 when he was a part of the Astros’ Double-A minor league affiliate at Corpus Christi. He was arrested the next day on warrant of a suspected assault, only to be released one day after that on bail. Vasquez also reportedly threatened a team employee when the incident was initially discovered.

Charges were ultimately never filed, largely due to the fact that the victim declined to do so herself. Instead, Vasquez agreed to a plea deal and reportedly had to complete anger management courses. The Astros eventually released Vasquez not long after they received an affidavit detailing the incident, and Major League Baseball suspended him indefinitely following the events.

Since then, the former Tigers’ minor leaguer has spent much of his professional playing career back him in his native country of Venezuela during each of the last two winters. More recently, Vasquez had signed a deal with the Lancaster Barnstormers, part of the independent Atlantic League that is not affiliated with MLB. They, too, have since parted ways with Vasquez shortly after the video went viral.

Vasquez in 252 career games between three low levels of the Tigers’ system from 2011-13 posted a .279 batting average.
