VIDEO: Lions coach Matt Patricia fights back tears during anthem

It was a touching moment as Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia was seen getting visibly emotional during the national anthem before today’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Patricia has several close friends currently serving in the military, specifically the Navy and Navy SEALs. He was honoring service members with buttons on his jacket, and was nominated for 2019 NFL Salute to Service Award.

Additionally, commentator Kevin Burkhardt explained Patricia’s grandfather was a World War II veteran. The Lions are heavily involved in the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) charity, and hosted hosted several families today at Ford Field.
