Video shows Detroit Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp questioning Brad Holmes idea of waiting on WR

Heading into the 2021 NFL Draft, one of the Detroit Lions' biggest weaknesses was at wide receiver and many believed they would take one when they were on the clock with the No. 7 overall pick.

But as we know, the Lions skipped on a wide receiver and selected OT Penei Sewell with their first pick.

The Lions also decided to pass on a wide receiver in Round 2, which led many to assume that Lions GM Brad Holmes would snag one in Round 3.

On Sunday night, the Lions released a 37-minute behind-the-scenes video of their draft and one segment showed Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp questioning Holmes about the idea of not taking a receiver in the third round.

“What do we do if we don’t get a receiver out of the draft?” Ford Hamp asked Holmes.

“Well, we'll still look at all of those receivers,” Holmes answered. “You know, we still have the USC kid and all of those kids, so we'll still be in a position to get one because of the depth at that position. Really, McNeill is the only real nose tackle.”

As we know, the wide receiver from USC that Holmes was referring to was Amon-Ra St. Brown, who the Lions ended up landing in the fourth round.
