What was once one of the most intriguing rivalries north of the Mason-Dixon line, the two Pennsylvania schools halted their annual game during the mid-90s due to each school leaving the ranks of the independents and joining conferences. Great news for college football fans, The Nittany Lions and Panthers have decided to renew their in-state feud with four straight games scheduled from 2016-19.

Both teams enter this Week 2 match-up after wins to open the season. Penn State pulled away from Kent State in the second half to do away with the Golden Flashes 33-13. Sophomore Trace McSorley made his first career start and had a pretty good day passing the ball with 209 yards and two touchdowns, meanwhile star HB Saquon Barkley showed why many made him a preseason All-Big Ten pick with 105 yards on the ground and a score of his own.

While Pitt gaining a quality 28-7 victory over FCS Villanova was notable, the real story of the day was HB James Conner scoring two touchdowns in his first game back from battling with cancer. 2nd-year head coach and former Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi is looking to build his program much like the same way he built the dominant Spartan defenses in East Lansing. This game will be a good test for both schools as they try to measure up before conference play begins.
