WATCH: Andre Drummond to leave Detroit Pistons?

Over the years there have been plenty of lightning rods in Detroit sports. You know, players who some fans absolutely love and other fans absolutely hate.

One of those players currently plays for the Detroit Pistons and his name is Andre Drummond.

Drummond was selected by the Pistons in the 1st Round of the 2012 NBA Draft and ever since then, he has been a rebounding machine in the Motor City. In fact, Andre has led the NBA in rebounding in 3 of the past 4 seasons and at 26 years of age, he does not look to be slowing down anytime soon.

But the question is, how much longer will be Drummond be pulling down boards in a Pistons’ uniform?

Prior to the 2016-2017 season, the Pistons gave Drummond a 5-year, $130 million contract which includes a player option for the 2020-2021 season.

Drummond was recently interviewed following a game at the Osgood Shootout in New Britain, CT and he talked about how excited he is to hit free agency next summer.

“Free agent next summer,” Drummond said to reporters, “It should be fun, I’m excited. I think I’m the only one that has a big contract coming up.”

For Drummond to hit free agency next summer, he would have to decline his player option to remain with the Pistons for the final year of his current contract.

What do you think, Nation? Should the Tom Gores do whatever it takes to keep Drummond in Detroit? Should the Pistons trade Drummond ASAP?
