It has not been a quiet separation period between the Detroit Lions and former superstar wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Megatron recently revealed that he hid concussions from the team and recently took an interview to reveal his perceived mistreatment from the team, especially near the end of his career.

Well, he’s back at it again, folks. During a recent interview in Italy, CJ was asked about why he retired from the NFL. His response seemed to indicate that not only was the physical toll of the game one of the reasons, another reason was the team that he was currently playing for.

“If I was to keep playing, I would have to play in Detroit, and that just wasn’t for me anymore.”

Johnson elaborated later in the interview segment and was pretty direct about not wanting to play for the Lions because of their championship chances.

“I didn’t see a chance for them to win a Super Bowl at the time, and for the work I was putting in, it wasn’t worth my time to keep on beating my head against the wall and not going anywhere.”

What do you think, Nation? Is CJ allowed to talk about the Lions that way?

  1. Yes, he is allowed. There are parts of him scattered across NFL Stadiums all over the country. Why should he continue to take the physical toll for a team that obviously doesn’t know how to build a winner. Barry didn’t and we still love him!

  2. Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders should have bailed much earlier and signed with a team that actually wanted to win a Super Bowl. The “L” in Lions stands for Loser and will remain that way until the Ford Lady sells the team to someone who wants more than just a tax write-off.
