Over the course of 13 seasons, Justin Verlander gave his all each and every time he took the mound with the hopes of leading the Detroit Tigers to a World Series championship. Unfortunately, he and his Tigers' teammates were not quite able to get the job done and Verlander was eventually traded to the Houston Astros.
Now, JV is coming home.
On Monday night, Verlander will take the mound at Comerica Park dressed as the enemy with the goal of shutting down many of his former teammates.
But before the moment of truth comes, Verlander has a message for Tigers' fans.
On Sunday, Verlander arrived “home” to Detroit and he took the time to post a message for his former fans.

Call me crazy, but it looks like Verlander's eyes were a bit wet as the video ended.

Dear Detroit Tigers: Please make this one jersey change for 2019
Dear Detroit Tigers,
Heading into the 2018 season, us fans knew it was highly unlikely that we would see a winning team. In fact, many of us wondered if we would lead the league in losses. But regardless of what was about to happen, whether you won or lost, we supported you. Sure, it was tough to make it out to as many games as usual, but trust me when I say that we had your back from afar.
Looking forward to 2019, all signs point to another long season, at least in terms of wins and losses, but that is expected in a rebuild. We know there is a process to get back to a championship-caliber team and we are willing to be patient now because we believe there will be amazing celebrations down the road.
Though we promise to be patient when it comes to the product on the field, we have one request that would instantly make the 2019 season and beyond a little better.
