To have any shred of hope on making the playoffs, the Detroit Lions need major contributions from their key players on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Matthew Stafford was going to need to utilize his big targets on the outside, namely Marvin Jones Jr.

The Lions were hosting division rival Chicago in a rare Saturday afternoon showdown. Detroit was up 6-0 midway through the second quarter and looking for more points. On a 3rd and long from deep in their own territory, Stafford decided to wind back and launch it downfield for Jones, who decided to help out his quarterback with this insane grab.

Was that Marvin Jones or Calvin Johnson on the catch? Jones goes up to high point the ball and bring it down with Bears rookie defensive back Eddie Jackson barreling down on him.

The pass from Stafford to Jones was good for 58 yards and set up Leo in the Bears’ red zone. They found the end zone three plays later to make it a 13-0 lead at the time over Chicago.

Detroit (7-6) needs to win out and needs a lot of help elsewhere around the NFL if they want to have any hope of reaching the playoffs for a second consecutive seasons.
