The Detroit Red Wings found themselves in yet another overtime game against the Ottawa Senators Thursday night. Going into the game, the Red Wings had a record of just 2-4 in overtime this season. However, the Red Wings were able to secure the victory in a key divisional matchup as the streaking Anthony Mantha lit the lamp off of a beautiful pass from Niklas Kronwall.
A Bobby Ryan turnover started the play and proved to be costly. Everyone in the building and those watching (Senators goalie Mike Condon included) were expecting Kronwall to shoot the puck. Instead, Kronwall slid the puck over to Anthony Mantha for an easy goal.
After the win, the Red Wings are currently six points out of a playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.
