I can still remember the excitement my friends and I had as we entered the final days of another school year.

But it’s pretty safe to say it was never as exciting as what the students at Glencairn Elementary in East Lansing experienced when Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford surprised them on Monday as part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Detroit Lions Play 60 program.

Watch as Stafford walks into the gym and is greeted by some pretty excited elementary kids.

Elementary school is all about making memories and that’s exactly what these kids got to do when they played catch with Stafford.

From the Lansing State Journal:

“It’s something I’ve been doing for quite a few years now, traveling across the state of Michigan and hitting pockets that I don’t normally go to,” Stafford said. “It’s really cool for me to see the support we have for the Lions, and just try to encourage these kids to be outside and play outside as much as possible.

“Obviously, summer is coming up and they’re going to have less time in the classroom and more time to go outside and play. Just encouraging them to do that is a lot of fun.”
