On Monday night, Matthew Stafford had a golden opportunity to pick up his first career playoff win and he rose to the occasion as the Los Angeles Rams dominated the Arizona Cardinals on way to a 34-11 victory.
Following the game, Stafford spoke to reporters and though he admitted he is happy to finally win his first playoff game, he is nowhere close to being satisfied.
“I’m just excited for the team to get a win,” Stafford said. “… It feels great.”
“What a team win,” Stafford said. “Our defense played outstanding. Our special teams had huge plays to set up our defense for scores. Our offense did enough to put enough points on the board to win it. Just proud to be a part of this team.”
“Happy to get one,” he said. “Looking for more.”
Up next for Stafford and the Rams is Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“It’s just the next step in the journey,” Stafford said. “[Brady is] an outstanding player, he’s been doing it for a long, long time. They have a great football team. I’m not playing against [Brady], one on one, but I understand he’s a great player and he’s going to get his team into the end zone. So I have to do my part.”
Stafford and the Rams will certainly have their work cut out for them against the Buccaneers but if he is as efficient as he was against the Cardinals, there is good a chance that he will pick up his second playoff win..
