When the 2022 NFL Draft begins at the end of April, our Detroit Lions (barring a trade) will have two picks in the opening round. Their first pick is set in stone as they earned the No. 2 overall pick following a 3-13-1 regular season. Their second pick in the first round is yet to be determined as it all depends on what the Los Angeles Rams do in the NFL Playoffs.
On Monday night, the Rams defeated the Arizona Cardinals 34-11 in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, which means the Lions' second first-round pick will be lower than it would have been had the Rams lost.
Had the Rams lost, the Lions would have secured the No. 23 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft but with the Rams winning, that pick will now be No. 26 or lower, depending on how far they advance in the playoffs.
Up next for the Rams is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If the Rams win, the Lions pick will end up between 29-32. If they lose, the Lions will pick either 26, 27, or 28, depending on how the other games play out.
Don't worry, we will pass along the exact scenarios later in the week.
