Wings May be Forced to Play Down a Man Tonight

When the Detroit Red Wings take the ice tonight against the Nashville Predators, they will be looking to snap a 3 game losing streak against their division rival. They will have to do so without some key contributors.

Jiri Hudler (who didn’t make the trip to Nashville due to the flu), and Pavel Datsyuk (lower body) have already been ruled out of tonight’s game.

A surprising addition to the injury list is Johan Franzen, who will be a game time decision with an undisclosed injury suffered in the Wings last game against Columbus.

The Wings don’t have the roster or cap space to call anyone up right now without a player going on injured reserve, so if Franzen cannot go, they will be playing down a man, with 11 forwards and 6 defenders.

Ruslan Salei is expected back from California on Monday when the Wings host the Penguins.
